Student Impact
- North Carolina is one of a few states that requires 4 math credits to obtain a high school diploma (most require only 3 math credits). Currently, students have a CHOICE for their 4th level math credit - they can choose either a college ready pathway OR a career pathway using select CTE courses.
- HB 657 eliminates the career ready choice for students.
- It is important to note that not all CTE courses satisfy the 4th level math requirement. CTE courses must meet rigorous mathematical standard alignment in order to be considered a credit of 4th level mathematics.
